 A first course in file systems, including direct and sequential access and how indexes work. This leads into a course on relational databases which uses Access to put theory into practice. Use of a database  system and database tools. Design and creation of a database. Queries using Structured Query Language (SQL) and Query By Example (QBE). Key values, third normal form, table joins, indexing, foreign keys are just some of the subjects discussed. Includes theoretical and practical exercises.
